Giving suggestions not interfering: Tony Tan

Giving suggestions not interfering: Tony Tan
by ST Cai Haoxing 22 Aug 2011

"Dr Tony Tan yesterday said that he does not regard giving the Government suggestions as interfering in day-to-day politics."

If it is TT, then is not interfering, if it is TJS or TKL, then it would be inferred as interfering?

"The presidential candidate said his background and experience would enable him to make useful suggestions to the economic field to the Prime Minister and Cabinet."

What background and experience? the experience of losing billions in GIC when he was in charge, not once but twice?

"Dr Tony Tan, a former deputy Prime Minister has spoken for the need for the Government to plan for the impending economic crisis - such as drawing on its experience in 2009 when it implemented the resilience Pckage to help the households and business."

What experience? the success or the failure?

"And the Resilience Package was one initiative that was very successful... I think we should learn from what we've tried."

TT claims this to be "very successful". In terms of what? did it really help the households as he claimed. Where are the statistics, information to back up what he says.

TT has alot to explain about his background and experience, as one writer to the ST Forum appears to be targetting only TJS to question his background. I believe most Singaporeans are interested to understand what was behind the mind of this"brillant" scion of a banker as he seems to think himself as, and who is the ONLY one with experience (probably of the worst kind, as in losing billions) to be able to advise the Cabinet.

What have he been doing all the while before this? No explanation whatsoever, and we should not be expecting any, after his "astounding" and mind/eye opening performance at the TOC debate for the presidential candidates.
